The setting 1 takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark 1943
November 8th pgs.1-17 Chapter one is about girl named Annemarie. One day Annemarie was running and two soldiers told her to to stop. They asked her why she was running and aftetr she had answered they told her to walk back home. When she got home she told her mom and her mom was not very happy.
Chapter two is about when Annemarie was telling her sister a goodnight story and once her sister was asleap she was remembering her dad and the stories he told her about how the king would ride his horse in to town to say hello.
November 9th pgs18-38 Chapter three is about how the German soldiors start to take over. It is also about how Annemarie go to a store to get a button but the store is closed and a sign is hanging in German.
Chapter four is about how Annemaries friend Ellen has to stay with them because the soldiers might come and try to take them to a consentrasion camp.
November 10th pgs. 39-59
Chapter five is about how when Elen stays over night. During the middle of the night the german soldiers came and almost caught Elen but then Annemaries dad found a way to trick them into thinking that Annemaries dead older sister was Elen.
Chapter six is about how Annemaries parents do not think it is safe to go to school so they bring Annemarie and Elen to Annemaries mothers brothers house in the country.
November 11th
pgs. 60-94
Chapter seven is about how the two girls, Mrs. Johansen Annemarie's mom and Annemaries's sister Kirsti go tho their uncle Henriks house. When they are there they find a kitten, dip their toes in the ocean, and help their mom make dinner for everyone. Also while they are there Mrs. Johansen tells Annemarie and Ellen they can not talk to any body because it is to risky that they might tell people about Elen and that she is a Jew.
Chapter eight is about how Annemarie and Elen are at uncle Henricks house and are having a great time. Later they find out that Annemaries great-aunt Birte has passed away and Mrs. Johansen has been getting the house ready for her to come and stay with them befor she is buried. Annemarie hs a bad feeling that know one has died though.
Chapter nine is about how Annemarie was right about her great-aunt Birte. Also it is about how the casket is delivered and a few people come to the houseand look at the casket. A few of the people are Elens parents.
Chapter ten is about how the soldiers come and ask why so many people where coming in the house so they told the soldiers about the death of their great-aunt Birte and then the soldiers asked them why the top was closed on the casket but Mrs. Johansen that she died of a dease and if you opened it you could still catch it so the soldier believed them and left. After they left Peter read a psalm from the Bible.
Chapter eleven is about how the Rosens are going to go with uncle Henrik. Everyone was wearing old caots and had food that Annemarie and Mrs. Johansen had packed from Henricks farm.
November 15
Pgs.95-105
Chapter twelve is about how Mrs. Johansen was bringing the Rosens to Uncle Henricks boat to go across to Sweeden. Annemarie was so scared because Her mam was sopossed to come home at three-thirty a.m. and it was four a.m. so she thinks her mom went strait to bed so Anniemarie go and check but she is not there. Annemarie looks out the window and sees it was her mom lying on the ground.
Chapter thirteen is about how Annemarie finds out that her mother has a broken ankle because she fell on a root. Annemarie helps her mother get back to her house and finds the paper that Mr. Rosen had from Peter. So, she shows her mom and her mom says to put it in a basket with some cheese and bread and run as fast as she can and gvive it to Uncle Henrick.
November 17 Pgs.106-112
Chapter fourteen is about how Annemarie is walking down the path to give her Uncle Henrick some bread and cheese with the very important paper underneath them. While she is walking down the path she thinks of how at home she tells Kristi the little red riding hood story and how Kristi is afraid of the part when the wolf comes and as Annemarie is thinking this she hears some growling. So she go forword and sees four armed soldiers with two big dogs.
November 18 pgs. 113-137 Chapter fifteen is about how Annemarie is on her way to her Uncle Henrick to give him the bread, the handkerchief, and the cheese. On her way she is stopped by four german soldiers who go through his lunch but when they ask Annemarie any questions she just acts like Kristi would. So the soldier just let her pass and give Uncle Henrick the basket with the handkerchief.
Chapter sixteen is about how Uncle Henrick tells Annemarie about what was in the handkerchief wich was a bottle full of a liquid and if a dog smelt it the dog would not be able to smell anything after. Annemarie also found out that the Rosens were in Sweden.
Chapter seventeen is about how the war ended and everone was celebrating and how Annemarie finds out how her sister was killed (she was ran over by a car) and Annemarie also finds Elens necalce and asks her dad if he can fix it and her dad said yes. So Annemarie said she was going to wear it untill Elen came home.
The Afterword isabout how some parts of the story are true and some parts are fake. Although some parts were true the Johansens and the Rosens were were made up, but the medicine to make the dogs not be able to smell was real.

She also loves attention she is always looking for something she can get attention for like when she tells Annemarie and exclaims that she is going to be Mamas nurse.
